added: 16th May 2011		From Vision to Reality Managing Director of Top Hex Ltd, Gary Weston has been awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Cass Business School in London. Gary won the Vision to Reality competition run by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Towergate Insurance. Peter Cullum CBE, the Executive Chairman of Towergate Insurance and alumnus of the Cass Business School, provided the prize of a fully sponsored place on the New Venture Creation course. Peter was the winner of the 2005 Ernst & Young UK Entrepreneur of the Year award and is the current holder of the M & D Deal Maker of the Year. He is keen to pass on the baton of entrepreneurialism. Gary, along with his business partner, Simon Pollington formed Top Hex in 2002 and the company is based in Hinchingbrooke Business Park, Huntingdon. Top Hex designs electronic equipment, supplying to clients in a wide range of industries. The company has grown progressively and now employees 12 people, a mix of full and part time staff. Gary’s winning entry was based on Top Hex’s latest innovation: a low energy stage floodlight that uses LEDs rather than a conventional light bulb. The judges liked his business plan for turning this product into a commercial success and were keen to give him the opportunity to further develop his entrepreneurial skills at the Cass Business School. The course offers the opportunity to network with successful entrepreneurs including Claude Littner, who has appeared in the final interview stages of ‘The Apprentice’. Towards the end of the course, Gary will pitch his idea to a panel of investors in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentation. Gary is looking forward to the opportunity, and comments,  “I am interested to hear the panel’s comments on my business proposal. I can say with confidence that any holes in my presentation will be ruthlessly picked apart. I hope that by the end of the course, I will have picked up some fantastic entrepreneurial skills and learnt enough to avoid looking like a complete idiot”
